Frequently Asked Questions

Q. WHY HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER?
Planning your own Destination Wedding can be a huge undertaking, especially if you do not speak Italian. The last thing you need is a complex logistical nightmare throughout the planning process. Everything needs to come together at the right time - the location needs to be ready, legal requirements need to be completed, and your guests need to arrive on time. Trying to organize all of these things and more from afar will definitely add stress to an experience which should be enjoyed. Hiring a locally based planner such as Weddings in Tuscany eliminates any unnecessary risks or stress during the planning of your event.
A wedding planner helps develop your vision, establishes a budget, directs you to and assists you in choosing your venue, secures vendors (florist, band or DJ, photographer, etc.), reviews contracts, and keeps you on track during the planning process. The planner must understand your vision and provide her or his experience and guidance to execute it.On the day of your wedding, the planner is the point person at your event. In short, a planner's main function is to make sure that everything you have envisioned comes true. If a problematic situation comes up, the planner will handle it. No stress allowed for the bride, groom, or their families!!!
Your planner is your best friend during the planning process, so you should make sure you like and trust her or him..

Q. WHAT ARE THE MAIN CAUSES OF STRESS
Legal Paperwork:
It’s easy to find your own venue and vendors online, but be aware that they do not offer the service of guiding you through the necessary documents needed to get married in Italy. You will have to do this on your own. Dealing with Italian bureaucracy is a super stressful experience for locals, never mind foreigners who do not speak the language. There is a very probably chance you will miss an essential document due to misunderstandings, and spend more time than is necessary sorting it out. This is where we come in. We help you complete all the paperwork, submit it at the local embassy and make sure it’s all processed correctly. Our team of professionals know exactly what to do, who to speak to, and we can have your paperwork processed in a couple of weeks.

Venues & Vendors:

There is always a risk involved when coordinating & trusting venues and vendors from afar, a risk that you don’t need. Having a locally based planner who is on the ground, and works on behalf of the couple, and their specific wedding plans, ensuring a selection of carefully screened venues and vendors that will consistently delivered top-notch services for their event. Making sure that everything is going smoothly and according to plan.

Q. IS A LEGAL ITALIAN CEREMONY RECOGNIZED WORLDWIDE?
YES! Every ceremony held in a town hall in Italy, is recognized as a legal wedding worldwide. Every couple is supplied with copies of a legal wedding certificate, which you must submit to our local registry office upon returning to your hometown.

Q. HOW MANY DAYS DO WE NEED TO BE IN ITALY BEFORE THE WEDDING DAY?
It all depends on the paperwork. If everything is processed, the day before your wedding. If there is still paperwork to be signed etc, 3 days before is sufficient to ensure all the paperwork has been lodged.

Q. DO WE NEED AN OFFICIAL INTERPRETER FOR THE CEREMONY?
YES! Italian law requires that an officially recognized interpreter must be present which we can organize for you.

Q. CAN WE HAVE A CIVIL CEREMONY IN A OUTDOOR SETTING?
YES! There are not many locations in Tuscany, but we do have a couple of choices in the Florence/Chianti countryside. You can also have a blessing ceremony in the garden of a villa.

Q. CAN WEDDINGS IN TUSCANY ARRANGE OUR WEDDING ANYWHERE IN ITALY?
OF COURSE WE CAN! Let us know what you have in mind, and we can easily design and plan your wedding anywhere in Italy.

Q. BEST TIME TO GET MARRIED IN TUSCANY?
The best months are May, June, September and October. July and August can be rather hot, but perfect for a wedding by the seaside. From November to March, the winter months, are perfect if you love cool, crisp days.

Q. CAN YOU HAVE A CHURCH CEREMONY IF I HAVE RECENTLY DIVORCED?
In most cases, YES! Once your decree absolute from your previous wedding has been processed, and a year has passed, you can remarry in a Protestant setting. There is also a little extra paperwork that must be processed, and you must have authorization from your local parish.

Q. CAN YOU HAVE A CIVIL CEREMONY IF I HAVE RECENTLY DIVORCED?
YES! For the bride: You must wait 300 days after your final decree absolute has been processed. For the groom: No time restriction.

Q. HOW DO WE PAY WEDDINGS IN TUSCANY? WHAT SECURITY DO WE HAVE?
Payment is usually received in two or three installments. We ask for a 30% retaining fee upon fixing a wedding date in a town hall or Church. We then send you a legal document which must be signed and posted back to us. The payments are usually made by bank transfer.

Q. CAN WE SPEAK TO COUPLES YOU HAVE ASSISTED IN THE PAST?
YES! Email me at info@weddingsintuscany.info, and I will put you in contact with one of our couples.

Q. HOW CAN WE BE ASSURED OF YOUR RELIABILITY?
You are welcome to speak to couples we have worked with previously. Plus, we always offer a legal contract upon agreeing to assist you with your wedding plans. We are a legally recognized company here in Italy.

Q. HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
The cost of the wedding itself, depends on your choice of venue and vendors, and number of guests.

Q. WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
We charge a flat fee: that way there are no surprises. It is our experience that a flat fee for service is the best way to go. Some planners get a very small fee and take a commission from the vendors. Sometimes their commission is built into the vendor’s bill, or the planner pays the vendor and in turn, bills you. But in this type of situation, you can never be sure if they are referring you to that vendor because the work is excellent, or if that vendor pays them the highest commission.

Q. HOW DO WE GET STARTED?
The first thing is deciding on the budget. Determining how much you are willing to spend on your wedding is key to planning your wedding.
Then, we suggest venues, checks on availability and pricing and presents options to you. Once the date and venue are established, we will assist you in selecting all the major vendors for your day: ceremony location, officiate, florist, band, DJ, and photographer etc.... We will review your contracts with the vendors; however, you must remember that you are responsible for the final choice. We will introduce you to the best in your budget but, just like with the planner, you have to have feel good about these vendors.
Before the wedding date, we also establishe a timeline and distribute it to the venue and all the vendors so everyone knows what to expect and when to be where. The week of the wedding, we contact all vendors and review the details of the event with them.
